05.05.2010 | New LASER-SOLDERING SYSTEM at ENGESER

Laser-soldering is a state-of-the-art soldering method for the selective soldering of delicate components. A diode laser operates as the heat source. The laser beam is absorbed by the component. As a result, the temperature increases and the solder melts. For a good soldered joint, it is important to establish a precise temperature-time pattern. This is achieved by the use of a pyrometer built into the laser head that is directed along the laser beam, operating coaxially to the laser beam.

Engeser news 10,000 temperature measurements per second record the surface temperature so that the laser can be adjusted accordingly. An integrated video camera is used for process monitoring and video analysis.

By monitoring the temperature and laser performance, each soldered joint is analysed and, in the event of a deviation from specifications, an error message is output. When soldering with an automatic solder-wire feed unit, the net solder times are typically between 1 and 2 seconds.
